Get the Plan Right While You Still Have Room to Negotiate

Right about now, somebody's telling you to be good. Be easy, be the reasonable one, don't make waves in front of the judge.

I did that, and here's what it got me. Every time my ex barked, I gave him what he wanted so I'd look like the good co-parent. All I did was train him that barking works. Two years of “be easy” teaches a high-conflict person exactly how to get their way for the next ten.

You can be kind and still have it in writing.

Walking In Prepared Isn't Controlling. It's Smart. It's Bringing Clarity to Chaos.

I hear this one constantly. “My attorney says if I bring my own parenting plan to mediation, I'll look controlling.”

I was a mediator for years. When somebody walked into my room with their plan already written, here's what I thought: this person did their homework, they've thought about their kids, and they're not here to rehash the past. That's the client everybody should want.

Think about what you're walking into. You're nervous, you haven't eaten in three days, your mouth's dry, and your armpits won't stop sweating. That's not the moment to make up your kids' holiday schedule off the top of your head.

And for what it's worth, judges aren't the ones saying no to my plans.

Done Right, Done for You

You fill out a questionnaire about your family, your custody situation, and how your ex behaves in real life, documented, instead of how they behave in front of the mediator. My team builds your plan around that reality on the Gold Standard framework.

  • A tailored parenting plan with two rounds of revisions and the One Sheet, a one-page summary formatted for your attorney or mediator that shows you how to raise it
  • The full video library, with court, evaluation and mediation prep checklists, parental alienation, and the complete parenting plan library
  • A year inside The Ugly Truth of Divorce, with weekly live coaching and replays, plus a bonus coaching call every month just for Gold Standard Plan clients

Moms and dads get the same Wednesday call, in separate private rooms.

Why I Care This Much

I'll be straight with you. This plan isn't a cure-all. It's not going to make an insane person sane, and it's not going to fix whatever happened in your ex's childhood that they keep dumping on everybody else. You're probably going to have some chaos no matter what the paper says.

What it will do is protect you and your time with your kids, and shrink how much of that chaos lands on your doorstep.

Every kid deserves the Gold Standard.

Here's Exactly What Happens Next

  1. Day one

You get your questionnaire. Tell us about your kids, your schedule, your ex and what keeps blowing up, with as much detail as you've got, because the details are the whole point.

  2. Your draft

My team builds your plan on the Gold Standard framework. It's ready in 10 business days on Standard, or 4 business days on Priority.

  3. Your revisions

You get two rounds to make it yours, plus the One Sheet so you know exactly how to bring it up with your attorney or mediator.

Your year inside The Ugly Truth of Divorce and the full video library come with it, so you're not sitting alone with a document wondering what to do next.

FAQ

“My ex will never agree to this.”

Okay, so when have they ever agreed to anything you wanted? Your ex doesn't get to just say what goes into the plan. You do too. Stop asking them in conversations, texts and emails. Instead, start showing them with your draft proposal that you're here to negotiate what's best for the kids.

“My attorney already has a template.”

I'm sure they do. But when a vague plan stops working, a straightforward modification runs $2,500 to $7,500 with an attorney, and high conflict runs a lot higher. Court templates are built to be generic, and your kids aren't generic. Bring the One Sheet and let your attorney do what they do best with a plan that's built for your family.

Curious how their template holds up? Run your attorney's plan through our free Gap Check and see exactly where it's vague.

And ask yourself this: when you talk to your attorney, do you feel like they understand where you are in this journey with your ex? Or do you feel more heard and validated watching my videos?

“We get along. Do we even need this much detail?”

If you two get along forever, amazing. The plan goes up on a shelf and you never read it. But even best friends argue over stupid stuff. Remember, one if not both of you is going to move on to a new relationship, and that brings a whole new dynamic into your “we get along” co-parenting journey. There could be some bumps in the road. I want you to have your seatbelt on for any bump that shows up when you least expect it. (The seatbelt is the Gold Standard Parenting Plan, if you needed help with that one.)

“Will the judge accept it?”

We can never guarantee that a lawyer, a judge or your ex will accept your plan. In my experience, judges aren't the ones pushing back on these plans. Be sure to check with your attorney about your specific state's laws. Judges love to see two parents agree on a plan before they get to court, and you and your attorney have to be the ones who know how to negotiate the terms you want for your future and your children.

“Is this legal advice?”

No. I'm not your attorney. I give strategy on a parenting plan, and your lawyer makes it final.

I Can't Promise Your Lawyer, the Judge or Your Ex Will Love It. Here's Where It Works Anyway.

  • Interviewing attorneys, so you can see who gets it and who reaches for the same old template
  • Walking into mediation with your thinking already on paper
  • Pulling it off the shelf later, when a fight starts and you need to know what you asked for
